Spiritual Beings has decided to take a public stand on file sharing.

We acknowledge that file sharing is here to stay, but as everything else,
we believe it should be done in reasonable boundaries and in good taste.

In the same manner that one can copy a CD, a DVD or a TV show on a local level,
one can now do all these things on a global level.
Globalization they wanted, Globalization we got.

By no means do we think that the file sharing platforms are to blame,
they are providing a service much like VCRs, Double Cassettes or CD burners.
These platforms can be used to the exchange of various files, and do expend the users horizons more
than what their pockets may allow them, and that has its positive points, no doubt.

However, as we mentioned before,
we believe that everything should be done in reasonable boundaries and in good taste.

Most of the sales are done in the first few months following the release.
These sales cover the costs of the production, and even that not always.

Sharing this material prior to the release or in the first few months after the release, hurts the sales, it hurts them bad

By hurting the sales, it actually hurts people.
It hurts the artists, it hurts the distributions, and it hurts the labels.
When you don't know who to trust with the promo you're sending out, how can you do your job well?

After a few months, sharing can be accepted as a marketing and promotion tool, with the option that
whoever liked the CD, or even 1 Track, would buy it in the store near to one's home or online on the web.
By doing so, one supports the artists, the labels and the distributions that made it all happen.

Be responsible, so we will have a better world than the one given to us

What do you think?

Dear Spiritualbeings....File Sharing will always thrive not because folks don't want to BUY music...It's because the whole music industry has got it's priorities wrong! To start with, i believe i'm being ripped off when it comes to paying high prices for a CD...Second, how do i know AFTER i have bought a CD that i will like ALL it's contents...I believe that the BEST things in life should be free.... I will support artistes who UNCONDITIONALLY will allow me to download their music FREE in mp3 format. I only use file sharing to LISTEN to a song because i can get it for free and can decide if i like it or not....I will buy CD's only when they reduce the price, improve the sound quality(Oh yes, CD has a long way to go!)and improve my overall buying experience! Peace!

My wife and I buy all of our music (picked up Groom Mountains- very nice), occasionally somebody burns us a disc that they think we'll find intersting. If we do, we buy it! When some kid calls themself a DJ and has a binder full of burns- that's no DJ! The trance scene should do more to support the artists and the labels (which are often labours of love just like the music).

Thatīs my opinion, too: file sharing works for marketing and promotion! And you can filter what you like or not by downloading and listen first before spending hard earned money to CDs you donīt like later. For exampel: without such tools I never knew/heard about "Shpongle"; untill now I bought 4 of their CDs and love to hear this fantastic sound again and again :-) Thx to donkey, kazaa, mesh and the others! ~greetz P.S.: (42! ...of course ;-)
